Services: Contaminated Land Risk Assessment and Remediation
ASL operated as geo-environmental consultants for the redevelopment of a former fuel filling station in Stockingford, Nuneaton. The site had previously been cleared of all structures and decommissioned.
Subsequent investigations by ASL identified the presence of an underground fuel storage tank (pictured above) and an oil interceptor. These structures were remediated together with some minor soils remediation to criteria agreed with the statutory regulators allowing the development of the site.
The works completed by ASL comprise the following:
Review of previously completed reports, historical data, the site’s environmental setting and current land use
Design and implementation of an intrusive investigation to delineate previously identified contamination
Design of chemical testing regime to characterise the site conditions and investigate potential contamination issues
Interpretation and quantitative assessment of results for contamination issues
Design a remediation strategy for the site
Complete remediation works comprising the excavation of soils for off site disposal and removal of tanks and interceptor
Liaison with regulatory authorities to obtain sign off of the relevant planning conditions.
